What to Expect at the 2017 iPhone Event
What to Expect at the iPhone Event
As the Wall Street Journal previously reported, Apple’s annual iPhone event is likely to take place on September 12. While this means the event will probably be held on that date, Apple may opt to push back the date of the event, especially if the Steve Jobs Auditorium on its new event isn’t ready to host the gathering.
Obviously, the launch of new iPhones will be the main focus of the event, but announcements about other Apple products are expected as well. As far as the iPhone is concerned, there are rumors that a new iPhone 7s and 7s Plus will be unveiled together with the much talked about iPhone 8, which is expected to feature an innovative bezel-free design. As this year will mark the 10th anniversary of the iPhone’s initial launch, the 2017 event will be highly popular among those who want to be the first to see new technology.
Though many believe the new model of the iPhone will be called the iPhone 8, this hasn’t been officially confirmed yet, so the new edition of the popular smartphone may end up with another name. In addition to the design changes, the upcoming device is expected to include features like wireless charging, an improved OLED display and unlocking through facial recognition.
Regarding other Apple products, it’s very likely that the company will use the occasion to launch a much awaited 4th generation Apple TV, which will include new features like support for HDR and 4K video. There might be a new Apple Watch, which could come with a dedicated cellular network connection, allowing it provide functionality like calling, texting and retrieving mobile data without being first paired with an iPhone. Since Apple has previously revealed at their developers conference that they’re going to launch a smart speaker called the HomePod, attendees at the iPhone event are sure to hear more about it.
