Invitation to the 2009 Global Public Policy Network Student Conference
This year, the 2009 GPPN Student Conference will be hosted by the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National
University of Singapore from the 11th to the 13th of November 09.
The Global Public Policy Network (GPPN) is a pioneering global network that brings together four of the world’s premier teaching and research institutions at the cutting edge of current thinking on global public policy. The partnership includes Columbia University, the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, the London School of Economics, and Sciences Po Paris. In continuing the tradition of bringing together a global student forum to improve the understanding of policy solutions that are faced by the world, this year around the conference theme will be centered on the theme, “Crisis as an opportunity; What Policies Do We Need for Sustainable Development Today?”
The conference will have three plenary sessions that will discuss the most pertinent issues raised during these crises: the role of good governance in institutional sustainability, economic & environment sustainability, and sustainable human & social development. Prominent expert/s from each field will provide an overview in each session. Break-out assemblies will follow the plenary sessions to provide time for the participants to engage in deeper discussions that will guide the formulation of policy recommendations for the problems identified within each group.
Attached is the programme for your consideration. There is immense opportunity for all participating students to take part in discussion forums, presenting ongoing research on any of the plenary topics, as well as participating as a moderator or reporter for a break out session. Please send direct inquiries regarding the details of this student conference to lkygppn09@nus.edu.sg.
