Medvedev Blogging
A while ago, we had a brief discussion here on The Morningside Post about heavy-hitting government officials keeping a blog, with Peter Orszag of OMB being one of the few mentioned. Well, in an interesting follow-up, I’d like to add to the list. Not only does Ray LaHood, Secretary of Transportation, keep a blog at Fast Lane, but several government agencies have discovered and are using Twitter. These tech-trendy government types are not limited to the U.S. alone, however. Of particular interest is the unveiling of a blog by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev at what looks to be the end of March. Aspiring readers, be warned it’s in Russian only. However, those who can check it out will find both his videos and short posts interesting for his comments on his movement to eliminate corruption, the end of operations in Chechnya, civil society, and the financial crisis. What makes this blog particularly interesting is that is another example of Medvedev taking a step down a path different from his predecessor, Vladimir Putin (another example being the interview that Medvedev gave to the editor of the opposition newspaper Novaya Gazeta). Readers, do you know of any other government-official blogs of note?
